Ceramics

I create simple Japanese-style wheel-thrown ceramics. I was trained in Japan by Hiroshige Kato, a 12th generation Japanese pottery master, who specialises in the highest quality Akazu-yaki and Setomono tableware.

My work is influenced by simple, natural Japanese aesthetics as well as the beautiful concept of wabi-sabi - the discovery of beauty in imperfection, by acknowledging three simple realities: nothing lasts, nothing is finished and nothing is perfect.
